Bohemian Revolution Predator

Toro

Dominican

6" x 50

The Bohemian Revolution Predator Toro is manufactured by Victor Sinclair Cigars and hand rolled in the Dominican Republic by Jose Dominguez. This is an aesthetically beautiful cigar, constructed of a delicious long filler tobacco blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican Piloto Cubana and Olor leaves; encased in a handsome Cameroon wrapper. We found it a medium to full bodied smoke, providing lots of rich tobacco flavor. Look for an easy draw with a spicy, pleasing aroma up front. Its flavor offers some spiciness which is complemented nicely with a wonderful cedar flavor. Note plenty of smoke volume. We loved it! Consider pairing it with your favorite single malt scotch.

Cuban Parejo by Perdomo

Rothchild

Nicaragua

5" x 60

"I'm not going to smoke any other cigars after smoking this!" said one of our panel members. Bold statement, but then again, who wouldn't say that after smoking this cigar? Nick Perdomo and the gang at Tabacalera Perdomo are making some of the finest cigars on the market today. This cigar was first introduced in 2001. And what an introduction it was; receiving a 5 out of 5 stars (a perfect score) from the European Cigar Cult Journal, the leading authority on cigars in Europe. At almost an inch thick, this smoke comes in as the fattest cigar of the bunch this month. Ironically, it is the smallest of the Parejos from Perdomo, especially when compared to the Galaxia, which measures in at an astounding 10" x 100 ring guage! This Nicaraguan puro gets its thick ring gauge from a blend of five filler tobaccos from the Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli regions of Nicaragua, all wrapped up in a gorgeous Connecticut Shade wrapper. Look for a medium to full bodied smoke packed with lots of cedar and earthy flavors. Try it with a chocolate stout or XO cognac.

Montague # 2 Double

Corona

Indonesia

6.75" x 47

It was spices and tobaccos that brought Indonesia its early success in international trade. While it may be true that, as Swedish Match's Van Glabbeek notes, "...there's no such thing as an Indonesian cigar," his company has taken a great leap in that direction, setting up the country's first significant premium long filler production, branded the Montague. Swedish Match's factory began wrapper and binder cutting and processing in 1993. The first thing you'll notice about this cigar is that it sports a rich & oily, Brazilian broadleaf wrapper that just begs you to light it. We found the flavor to consist of a core of spiciness, as one might expect from Indonesia. It's medium bodied and offers hints of cedar, and a light toastiness. The finish offers a lingering earthiness. Pair it up with a tawny port, kick back and enjoy your life!

Romeo y Julieta Cedro # 2

Corona

Dominican

5.5" x 44

One of the very best-known Havana Brands. The brand's early success was directly due to the efforts of Rodriquez Fernandez. "Pepin," as he was known, was originally manager of the Cabanas factory in Havana, but unhappy at its imminent takeover by American Tobacco, he resigned in 1903 to branch out on his own. Within two years, with his 1,400 workers, he had to move to a larger factory in the Dominican Republic. We found the Cedro # 2 to have a complex blend, offering earthy tone and a somewhat sweet herbal quality. Overall, very well made, relatively mild and full of flavor! Pair it up with a full-bodied merlot.

Don Juan Criollo

Toro

Nicaragua

6" x 50

With a Cigar Aficionado rating of ´90´, these smokes are among the best everyday values in the cigar industry. Don Juan cigars are handmade by Cuban expatriate Pedro Martin. The Don Juan Criollo Toro is a well-constructed, satisfying premium that exhibits a smooth, medium-bodied flavor. Look for a gorgeous Cuban Criollo '98 wrapper and long-fillers grown in the lush Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua. This is a medium to full-bodied cigar with a robust finish, complex flavor profile and hearty character. Look for a definite woody finish in this tasty treat. Overall, well made and great taste. What more do you want? Consider pairing this one with your favorite Pilsner.
