November is probably one the most challenging months for a company such as ours. The best selections are often "saved" for the holiday shipment. Well, were proud to say that our November shipment is not only one the best youll ever see, but its most aptly put as "delicious!"
Our first selection is proof that our members are getting something extra special before the holiday rush. For the first time ever, The Cigar Renaissance is offering an Anniversary Selection. Not many manufacturers have the time, money, or resources to develop a cigar that celebrates their longevity in the industry. In addition, you cant make an Anniversary cigar thats just ok; its got to be great! Well, the latest ratings from Cigar Aficionado are out, and the C.A.O. Aniversario Maduro Line is already getting 90s. Our first feature of the month is the C.A.O. Aniversario Maduro Robusto from Costa Rica. The Aniversario reminds us most of the Partagas Series D Robusto from Cuba. Its a "powerhouse," and its a cigar that everyones going crazy over. Remember that you heard it here first. Have a good dinner, enjoy this great smoke, and re-order quickly. We guarantee theyll be gone in no time.
Our second feature of the month comes from a cigar line thats just recently received considerable attention. Their cigars consistently get high ratings in all the various size classifications, and are being noted for their unique flavor characteristics. The name is Carlos Oliva, and if you havent heard of them before, you can bet that this will not be the last time. The Oliva family is no newcomer to the cigar trade. Gilberto Oliva established a very prominent cigar trade in Cuba, only to see it taken from him by a communist regime. After several moves which included Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, and the Philippines, and more than 50 years later, the life-long pursuit of the perfect blend has come to fruition. This months 89 rated Carlos Oliva Torpedo from Nicaragua honors this dream and the success of one the worlds most knowledgeable elder statesman of cigars, Gilberto Oliva.
Our third feature is the Don Melo Numero 2, a puro from Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras. The Don Melo line of cigars honors the father of the Honduran cigar trade, who was the first Honduran national to open a cigar factory in that country in 1896. From humble origins in 1789, the cigar trade has grown considerably in the town of Santa Rosa de Copan and this medium to full bodied smoke, wrapped in an all-black leaf, salutes that success. We expect the 88 rated Numero 2 will impress you as it did us. Enjoy its superb blend of flavors from the first puff.
Our fourth feature comes from Palmarejo Cigars, S.A., another young brand with a great heritage of tobacco cultivation. As of late, Palmarejo Cigars has been the recipient of favorable attention and high ratings. They produce a world class cigar with a blend of tobaccos from the vegas of Palmarejo, Jacagua, Las Lavas, and Palmar in the Dominicar Republic. These areas are blessed by the perfect combination of soil, water, and climate in which to grow one of the best tobaccos in the world. This month were proud to bring you the Palmarejo Churchill. Its uncanny balance and unmatched aroma are just a couple of reasons Cigar Aficionado ranks this cigar as one the best non-Cuban Churchills in the world.
We often mention the growing market for cigars with a fuller body and complex flavor. When we spoke to the manufacturers of Ashton cigars, they not only agreed, but they also gave us one of the best solutions yet. The name is Savoy, and its got the quality of an Ashton cigar, with a bigger body, more complex flavor, and at half the price. We couldnt think of a better creation. This months Savoy Governor is a Toro sized puro from Ecuador, and is referred to as a "Cuban sandwich" by its creators. The distinction comes from the use of two different binder leaves that hold first generation Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Ecuador. Its not only visually appealing but its flavor is second to none. Enjoy!
Happy Smoking!
