Greetings from the Humidor

Happy Holidays! ‘Tis the season to offer the very best. Fa-la la-la laaa, would you expect anything less? The Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua are the countries of choice for this month’s line-up. We recommend you guard these cigars and tell all onlookers to sign up.

Hand-made in the Dominican Republic, Bauza first introduced its line of medium to full-bodied cigars enveloped in rare Cameroon wrappers in 1980. The featured Bauza Grecos carries an original rating of 85 with Cigar Aficionado. Our tasters noted a better aged corona in 1997, with more complex flavors than ever. We recommend saving this one for dessert.

If you like the Jerry Seinfeld television show, you may want to sit back with the Cacique Inca No. 8 while watching re-runs of the hit series. Recently rated in Cigar Aficionado Magazine’s latest Double Corona blind tasting, the Inca came up a winner among the big boys. With an 87 rating, we expect you will find the Inca’s creamy flavors as unique as Kramer’s "cigar-antics" and as appealing as Elaine.

Only a shining star can have a name like Diana Silvius Diamond Vintage Robusto. Diana Silvius is not only recognized as a superb smoke all over the world for its medium body, rich flavor, and subtle balance between taste and aroma, but also for its scarcity. Dianas are hand-made in the Dominican Republic by the master rollers of Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia with four filler tobaccos. When you’ve got these guys rolling your cigar, your only predicament is deciding for which occasion it should be smoked.

With an Ecuadorian grown CT shade wrapper and Dominican binder for extra flavor, the Lempira Toro has proved itself as a leader in the high quality/high value category. A favorite among our panelists as well as Cigar Aficionado’s, this 89 rated cigar is solid -- any time, any place. And if you’re out of ideas for atmosphere, try Asia de Cuba in Manhattan.

In their efforts to offer a super high end cigar, Thomas Hinds has introduced the Cabinet Selection series. The featured Thomas Hinds Cabinet Selection Robusto undergoes a triple fermentation process to achieve the same high quality you would expect from Hinds, but with a totally different experience. Our panelists describe the cigar as "enchanting." Cigar Aficionado just gives it an eighty-seven. Here’s your chance to see for yourselves.

From all of us at World Beer Direct & The Cigar Renaissance we would like to wish you a joyous holiday season and prosperous new year.

Happy Smoking!
